Borrowed Scenery “Dadohae”, by Korean composer and arranger Kang Han-Moi is our Composition of the Week.
“Cha Kyung uses the phrase "borrowing the scenery" to suggest that the impression of a particular natural landscape is the basis of the work. The work deals with the "Dado Sea," which means "a sea with many islands scattered within a short distance," and is a record of the composer's memories and impressions of the southern coast of Korea, a traditional tea ceremony area. The purpose of the piece is to describe the colorful scenery of the object at a specific time of day, such as dawn and dusk, and to allow the listener to feel the scenery that the composer paints with their ears.”
